Our good neighbours at the Parkdale Community Association are arranging for weekly “fresh food boxes” of regionally produced veggies and fruits, and add-ons like eggs, honey, frozen specialty meals and the like, to be available for purchase on pre-order. Check out the program by clicking here. Montgomery is currently outside of their delivery zone–but the pick-up location at the Parkdale Farmer’s Market (3512 5 ave NW) is close by. Have a look at the great video the community made, about Parkdale’s efforts to bring people together around food production, distribution and preparation—click here.
As we transition into the holiday season, the Montgomery BRZ reminds us that while internet shopping is convenient, it’s still important to support local merchants as well. Please consider participating in “Shop the Hood,” on Nov. 29, by making a purchase at a local store to show your support. For more info about this national event, click here.
The Seniors’ Social normally meets on the last Monday of the month, between Sept. and April or May, 1-3 pm. But in December it is meeting a week early, on the 15th. Turkey Dinner to be served! For gift swap, bring a gender-neutral item (wrapped)–$10 maximum. Call the MCA for more details.

Our good neighbours over in Ranchlands are having their third annual Lego Christmas event–a fun time for the whole family! Here’s how they explain it: “Build a LEGO creation and bring it to the Community Center to show it off. Wear your Tacky/Ugly Christmas Sweater and other Christmas gear. This is a fund-raiser: 100% of the proceeds from food sales and donations received at this event will be donated to the Ranchlands Christmas Adopt-A-Family.”
When: Saturday, December 6, noon-2:00. Where: Ranchlands Community Association, 7713 RanchView Dr NW. Cost to enter a Lego creation in the competition is $5. Viewing is free. Check out the poster to the right and visit the event website for details and an entry form by clicking here.
