Starting Seeds for the Community Garden
The first seeds have been planted (indoors) and soon there will be visible activity at our community garden site as well. If you are interested in joining the garden group this year, click on the “Garden 2015” tab up above on the right. That’s the place to check all season for updates as well.
If you’ve got stuff to dispose of, bring it down to the community centre on Saturday, May 2, 9.2, and toss it for free. For all the details, click on the post to the right.
A few details of special interest this year:
Organics should be bagged in paper for disposal. Free paper organics/yard waste bags are available for pickup in advance at the Community Centre (max 5 per household).
Mattresses can be accepted, but they must be bagged– mattress bags will also be available in advance at the Community Centre
The Provincial elections will take place on May 5 (9 am to 8 pm). Most Montgomerians will be voting at Terrace Road School (2103 46 St NW). Check your mailboxes for further voting info, and see our quick links in a post below to read up on candidates in this riding.
Early voting offered April 29 and 30, and May 1 and 2, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., at Bow Valley Christian Church, 5300 53 Ave NW.

Missed the last one, or have more to say? This is a drop in session from 6 to 8 p.m. at the community centre, which reflects the feedback from the initial public engagement meeting. The City is holding an open house to gather feedback on ideas to improve the existing bikeways for all road users. Drop in on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at F.E. Osborne School (5315 Varsity Dr. N.W.) from 5 – 8 p.m. to speak with the project team, view the improvement options and provide your feedback.
If you miss the open house you can view the display boards and complete a feedback form at calgary.ca/bikeprojects from May 8 – 14, 2015.

FFCA High School will be hosting a Candidates’ Forum on the afternoon of Monday, April 27, 1:45 to 3:15, in the school’s North Gym, 2216 MacKay Road NW (the former Montgomery Junior High). The NDP, Liberal, and Green Party candidates for the Calgary-Varsity riding have all committed to attend. The public is welcome. No RSVP necessary, but visitors are asked to check in with the front office.
