June 20: Neighbour Day

Screen Shot 2015-04-28 at 8.43.52 PMLast year Mayor Nenshi established neighbour day to recognize how the Calgary community came together during the flood of 2013.  The Mayor has declared June 20 as Neighbour Day for 2015, a day to host a block party, a picnic in the park or even to introduce yourself to a neighbour and lend a helping hand.

Great Programs for Low Income Calgarians

The City is dedicated to the idea that all Calgarians should have equal access to City programs, services, facilities and public spaces.  Cost is a barrier for some, so The City has launched a “Fair Entry” program, designed to support low-income Calgarians with assistance with property taxes, spay/neutering of pets, and access to recreation, transit, and seniors’ services.  For more information click here.

Main Streets Initiative, Electronic Edition

Screen Shot 2015-03-24 at 7.49.46 AMIf you missed the last Main Streets info session on May 4, check out the online survey the City is providing by clicking here.  It allows you to learn about the project, see some of the input  gathered so far, and to make your own views known.  In Montgomery, the City is studying Bowness Road and 16th Avenue as zones where future development could be guided in positive directions.

Calgary West Trans-Canada Corridor Study
