Please join the Federation of Calgary Communities on Wednesday, March 5, 7-9 p.m., for a workshop with Constable Carter Duchesney, who will introduce a troubling topic that can affect anyone with a computer or smartphone – cybercrime.* This workshop is part of the Partners-in-Crime-Prevention series, geared towards helping community association volunteers and the public learn valuable information about crime prevention and safety issues in their neighbourhoods. Workshops are FREE to the public and this one will be held at the Glamorgan Community Association 4207 – 41 Avenue SW. Click here to register and to view other upcoming workshops. And click on the poster to the right for more information on this workshop.
*The Calgary Police Service uses the term “cybercrime” to refer to internet, with reference to social media scams, malware, hacking, identity theft, spam mail, auction fraud, phishing and assorted activity of this nature. Key topics of this workshop include social media safety and cyber bullying.
The Calgary Police Commission Community Policing Awards honour individuals, groups, organizations and businesses that contribute in an extraordinary way to improve police policy and/or the ability of the Calgary Police Service to serve the community. They were awarded following a delicious dinner and small group discussion regarding issues in policing and safety in the communities. The MCA is actively engaged with policing issues in our community, especially through the CSI committee (Community Safety Initiative). This was a chance to network with other communities and the police about issues of concern, as well as to celebrate work well done.
CSI is partnering with the Bowness Community Association to host a meet and greet information session with various City representatives on the subject of bylaws and their enforcement.
When: Wednesday, March 27, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Where: Bowness Community Centre Main Hall, 7904-43 Ave NW
For more information call 403-288-8300, and watch for bold signs near the entrances to the community.
