May 4: Disaster Alley (Emergency Preparedness Event)

Screen Shot 2014-04-26 at 7.57.51 AMGet Prepared! The Alberta flooding events of last June were Canada’s most costly natural disaster, and made us all aware that we need to be prepared in case of emergency.   As we approach spring flooding season again, the Calgary Emergency Management Agency (CEMA) invites you to learn more about how you can be prepared at Disaster Alley, a fun and FREE family event that showcases first responders and agencies that help in emergencies.  Come on out Sunday, May 4, from 11am to 3pm, at MacMahon Stadium, east parking lot.  Meantime, to learn more about preparedness, click here.

April 13 and 14: Build-A-Legacy Project Launches

The Montgomery Heritage Committee is seeking to capture our colourful history through photographs this year.   Current and former community members are invited to share some of their collections of Montgomery photos from the 1960s and earlier at one of our Build-a-Legacy “scan-a-thon” events.  We’ll scan photos (albums okay too) and return them on the spot so they won’t be lost or damaged, and get some info. from you about them.  The scans will be preserved in the community centre archives for the use of future generations.

The first two scan-a-thons are scheduled at the community centre main hall for Sunday, April 13, anytime between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.  and  Monday, April 14, between 6 and 9 p.m.   Continue reading
